The second speaker was Professor Jun Sugiura, who spoke about productivity management and continuous improvement in organizations. Mr. Sugiura also mentioned the importance of kaizen and its effect on increasing productivity. In this seminar, many questions were raised about the implementation of Kaizen in factories, which Professor Sugiura answered. One of the important issues in Kaizen that the professor pointed out was that managers should only listen to consultants to improve their industry and should not implement their thinking and ideology in the strategies of their factories. Consultants should only be guides and should only show the flaws of the organization or the industry. It is the experts and engineers of that company who apply those guidelines with the appropriate process of their industry.
The next session after the training was the consultation with the best WBA consultants and seminar participants.
At the end of the training session, during a ceremony, Prof. Sugiura, director of the WBA organization, and Mr. Kazuo, the CEO of the WBA, gave certificates of attendance to each of the participants and took individual and group photos.

Visiting the Jidai Matsuri Festival
Venue: Kyoto Imperial Palace
The Jidai Matsuri (時代祭) is a festival held every year on October 22, the anniversary of the foundation of Kyoto. It consists of a large parade that travels from the Imperial Palace to the Heian Shrine. Jidai Matsuri is Japanese for “Festival of Ages”, and the participants are dressed in accurate costumes from almost every period of Japanese history, as well as famous historical figures. There are about 2000 participants, and it takes two hours to watch the entire procession pass by.
The Jidai Matsuri is held by Heian Shrine, and both the festival and the shrine were established in 1895 to celebrate Kyoto’s history and culture. A few years before in 1868, the capital was moved to Tokyo after having been in Kyoto for over a thousand years. Despite its short history, the Jidai Matsuri is one of Kyoto’s three most famous festivals, along with the Gion Matsuri in July and the Aoi Matsuri in May.
